“They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not.” Chapter 2 Al Baqarah, verse 9.
Those who adopt the two faced behaviour mentioned in the previous verse may believe they are protecting their interests but in fact it will only cause them trouble in both worlds. Chapter 2 Al Baqarah, verse 8:
“And of the people are some who say, “We believe in Allah and the Last Day,” but they are not believers.”
This hypocrite might deceive some people but they will eventually be exposed and shamed. Unless they sincerely repent, they will face nothing except misery in the hereafter as their intentions were evil. Whatever worldly things they manage to gain by this attitude will never outweigh the harm they receive in the long run as these worldly things will become a curse for them. The very things they hoped would become a source of comfort and peace for them will become the source of their misery and anxiety.
A muslim should therefore never be fooled by any worldly thing they obtain through hypocrisy, such as being two faced, as Allah, the Exalted, has made it clear that those who adopt these characteristics will ultimately lose out on all which is good in both worlds.
