Prevents Persistence on Major Sins –
Chapter 4 An Nisa, verse 31:
“If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise].”
The Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, has warned in a Hadith found in Sunan An Nasai, number 4873, that a person does not believe when they are fornicating, drinking alcohol, stealing or killing someone.
Whoever persists in committing major sins does so because they fail to actualize their faith. This allows a muslim to commit these sins even though they are aware that Allah, the Exalted, is watching them. Actualizing faith creates a sense of shame and modesty from Allah, the Exalted, love of Him, hope in His reward, fear of His punishment and a light that prevents one from persisting on major sins.
